Team Off-Site

Team off-sites—also known as retreats, surges, or jump starts—are a powerful way to help teams become more aligned around team performance and shared goals. In many organizations, day-to-day work often takes priority over intentional team development. A team off-site creates the space teams need to reconnect, refocus, and work intentionally on improving both team and work performance.

Team off-sites typically range from one to three days, depending on the needs and availability of the team, and are most effective when held away from the normal work environment. Off-sites may include evening sessions and can also accommodate fun downtime activities that strengthen relationships and engagement.

Each team off-site is custom-designed to meet the specific needs of the team. Most off-site designs are grounded in our Next Level Team Development Framework and the Team Essentials Model. Curricula often include personality assessments such as DISC or Myers-Briggs, and the Team Essentials Assessment plays a critical role in evaluating current team performance.

Experiential activities are intentionally included, and off-sites combine learning, reflection, discussion, and—most importantly—application. Team off-sites generally fall into the following categories:

A Strategic Team Off-Site provides dedicated time for teams and organizations to reflect on where they have been and define where they want to go next. Our senior facilitators guide teams through strategic planning conversations that often include mission, vision, and values development, along with the creation of clear strategic objectives and goals.

Most importantly, this off-site helps leaders and team members refocus on the importance of operating as one team, aligned around shared priorities and long-term organizational success.

The Next Level Team Development Off-Site is designed for established teams that want to elevate their team effectiveness and performance. Current team performance is assessed using the Team Essentials Assessment, and practical action plans are created to maximize future performance.

Teams leave with greater clarity, stronger alignment, and improved cohesion—along with clear next steps to sustain momentum after the off-site.

A Team Jump Start Off-Site is an effective way to bring a new team together or support teams experiencing leadership or membership changes. This off-site accelerates relationship building and helps teams reach performance levels that might otherwise take months—or even years—to achieve.

The focus is on clarifying expectations, establishing performance guidelines, and creating a shared understanding of how the team will work together moving forward.

Not all teams are positioned to achieve high performance without first addressing underlying challenges. A Team Reset Off-Site helps teams pause, reset, and get back on track.

Our skilled process consultants help teams surface and address existing conflicts, clarify disconnects, and reduce relationship tension among team members. The Team Essentials Assessment is a critical component of this off-site, as it identifies performance issues that may be below the surface and brings them forward so they can be addressed constructively and resolved.
